MEETING & PITCH DEVELOPMENT
Today I had my one to one meeting with Susan, and I've decided to choose Production Manager and 2D Character Animation as my two specialisms. Subject to change of course, but Susan seems to be confident in my abilities as a Project Manager. Personally I enjoy being the sort of middle man in a film project, but the only thing I worry about is if there were problems balancing work. I think last semester I took on more than I should have, but I'm prepared to use that as a learning experience and try to delegate work in a much fairer way this time around. I will reach out to a 4th year that also specialises in Project Managing at some point soon so I can prepare for what's ahead.
As for the 4th year film pitches, I'm going to pitch a show called Creche and Burn, centred around a zombie apocalypse occuring outside an office building, where a group of workplace creche teachers try to save the children in the nursery.
I'm enlisting the help of my friend and classmate Libby D.D. to help out with character design for my concept. We got together to doodle character concepts and talk about visual & story inspirations for the short. Below are some examples of these sketches. You can see Libby's development sketches based off of these doodles on her blog.
I've also given her a bit of homework* in terms of the visual direction I have in mind for the film. These are the following:
